Board Members

The board of Women in Film & Video New England meets once a month. WIFVNE’s board is a volunteer ‘working board’ and members serve two-year terms. Responsibilities of the board include serving as ambassadors for WIFVNE by attending industry events and making contacts with other community organizations, and working together as a team of colleagues to accomplish the goals of the organization. Alecia Jean Orsini Lebeda – Board President – Alecia Jean Orsini Lebeda is an award winning filmmaker and media professional. She is the CEO of video agency Good Natured Dog Productions LLCAlecia is a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts, and attended the Savannah College of Art and Design where she graduated with a B.F.A in Film and Television. You can hear her on WCAI the Cape & Islands NPR Station as the Sunday Host and you can catch her teaching Video Production & Social Media at the Geek Girl Tech ConferencesIn 2012 she was named one of the Cape & Plymouth Business 40 Under 40 for her volunteer work & entrepreneurship. She is also one of the voices working behind the scenes for the grassroots organization Save MA Film Jobs. Beware, she carries a camera, and isn’t afraid to use it. Alecia has served on the WIFVNE Board since 2015.

Yvette ‘Ms. Yvette’ Wilks – Vice President – Yvette Wilks is the Executive Producer of three (3) television shows at Somerville Access Television (SCATV). The Somerville Line, Cut The Bull$hit, and Somerville Overcoming Addiction. Ms. Yvette assisted the co-founders of Somerville Overcoming Addiction, an addiction treatment program, in production of their live television show. She is the co-founder of the Evolution of Hip Hop Festival. The Festival began in 2015 to honor the culture of hip-hop and its history. The Festival creates a platform for the lovers of this art to share their work. Yvette Wilks is a Community Board member of Somerville Community Access Television and is currently the Membership Chair at SCATV. Ms. Yvette consistently works to build collaboration with grass-roots organizations to create content and promote ways to educate the youth on the world of media. Her mission at SCATV is to help others create platforms to share their work.

Juliet Schneider – Development Committee Co-Chair –  Juliet Schneider is a freelance animator, production designer, and owner of Iridium Productions, based in the Boston area. She has an MFA in Video/Multimedia, from Tufts University/School of the Museum of Fine Arts. She also holds a BFA in General Fine Art, from Maryland Institute College of Art. Juliet has taught fine art, video production, and computer graphics at USES, The Children’s Art Centre, Fletcher-Maynard Academy, CCTV, MATV, and Bradford College. Her recent work includes collaborative animations and production design work on several locally made music videos and shorts.  Juliet has served on the WIFVNE Board since 2011, and is the Immediate Past President.

Florence Mugenyi – Development Committee Co-Chair – Florence is a continuing Audio Engineering student at Bristol Voice & Recording Studios in Boston, MA.  Her ultimate goal is to make and to produce film and video soundtracks.  She is also the current Treasurer for both the Boston Chapter of the National Organization for Women (BostonNOW) and its PAC- a position she has held since 2010.  A combination of her passion for global women’s success, her continuing education in Financial and Accounting studies, her Audio Engineering pursuits, together with her desire to make and produce soundtracks, are the reasons why she was drawn to WIFVNE.  Florence currently works with Center Club, Boston, a Program of Bay Cove Human services.  Florence has served on the WIFVNE Board since 2011.

Cecilia Préstamo – Events Committee – Cecilia Préstamo is a video editor and producer with more than 20 years of experience indocumentary journalism. As a photojournalist, photo editor and page designer for the Hartford Courant her work received numerous awards from the National Press Photographer’s Association and the Society for News Design. Cecilia went on to work at The Providence Journal as the Photo Editor/Page Designer for The Sunday Providence Journal edition and special projects. In Providence, she became the primary editor and manager of the Visuals department’s video staff during their transition from print to digital media. She edited the newspaper’s first EMMY awarded video and initiated collaboration with RI PBS to air the newspaper’s first full-length documentary The War on Terror: Coming Home, which was awarded the regional Edward R. Murrow for Video News Documentary.  After transitioning to broadcast television at Connecticut Public Television, Cecilia relocated to Massachusetts to acquire a greater variety of production experience. In the last year, she has worked as a 2nd AD, Location Coordinator, Script Supervisor and PA for a variety of commercial and narrative projects and continues to seek further production experience.  Cecilia has served on the WIFVNE Board since 2015.

JoAnn Cox – Events and Marketing Committees – JoAnn Cox has a passion for film, video, and digital media industries in New England.  A graduate of the University of Southern California, she has experience managing non-profit trade associations, planning conferences and events, and marketing for cable television.  She wrangles creative people and organizes details.  JoAnn is founding Board member and current administrator of the Shirley Jackson Awards, a literary award celebrating the dark fantastic, horror, and psychological suspense.  She also volunteers for Boskone, the longest running science fiction-fantasy convention in New England, by participating in program development, on-site convention operations, and press outreach.  JoAnn has been a WIFVNE Board member since 2016.

Lisa D’Angelo – As Director of Outreach for Rule Boston Camera, Lisa manages community and educational outreach, Learning Lab and Pub Night events and workshops, along with marketing and public relations for Rule’s inventory of production and post-production equipment and services. She also enjoys sharing news and events on Rule’s social media platforms. Before joining Rule Boston Camera in 2006, Lisa worked in variety of production and post-production positions at WGBH and at various local production companies.

Jen Myronuk is a filmmaker, historian & interactive media producer specializing in living history theater, civics/public policy, and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and math). Jen is the producer & director of the short film Humanity Needs Dreamers: A Visit With Marie Curie, and and previously served as the Associate Director of Filmmakers Collaborative, a Boston-based non-profit supporting independent filmmakers through fiscal sponsorship.

Chuck Slavin – Events and Marketing Committees – Chuck Slavin is a Film Professional with ten plus years in the New England Film Industry. He is a SAG-AFTRA board member at large, Rhode Island Film Collaborative member, a member of the Massachusetts Artist Leader’s Coalition steering committee, and a voting member of the Massachusetts Production Coalition. Chuck Slavin is a tenacious advocate for New England Film. Chuck is also President & Founder of New England Talent & Crew an online networking resource.  Chuck has been a WIFVNE Board member since 2016.

John S. DeSimone – Events and Marketing Committees – John has decades of production experience in both film/video and theatre; having honed the skills of visual acuity and photography as a Chief Lighting Technician and LD, and from project management and content/story development, casting, production stage and general management.  A charter member and formerly on the IATSE Local 481 Executive Board he is still an active member that mentors in several of its training programs annually. Also John is an active MPC volunteer and you will see him often at their events and seminars making magic. His wide range of experience can’t keep him from the creative process wherever it pops up. He holds a Masters of Science in Management degree from Arthur D. Little School of Management, now HULT International and is an alumnus of the Rockport Photographic Institute in cinematography.

Carina Chavda is an award winning filmmaker, born and raised in Mumbai, India. She started her career working as a Producer in Mumbai where she created sports content for television. She worked as a producer for ONE IN A BILLION, a reality show to find India’s next Formula One Driver that involved shooting across seven cities in India. After getting her Masters in Film and Television production from Boston University she moved to Los Angeles and worked as a producer/editor. In 2016-17 she produced four award winning short films one of which screened at the 2017 Cannes Film Festival, American Pavilion and won Best Film at the Asian American Film Festival in New York City. She’s currently working on the post-production of her documentary on the effects of Climate Change in the region of Kashmir. She has over ten years of experience working both behind and in front of the camera. She currently works as a Media Producer for The Grommet.

Dawn Davis is an Actor & Producer who is currently developing Hells Canyon, a wilderness drama feature film that she will produce and star in ( Her short film, Harmony, which she also produced and starred in, premiered at the 2014 HollyShorts Film Festival at the TCL Chinese Cinema in Hollywood. She recently appeared in the short films Matriarch and If You Leave Me and is currently in rehearsal for the U.S. premiere of The Plague with Praxis Stage. In the past year she also appeared in the roles of Portia in Julius Caesar and Mary Jane in Jesus Hopped the ‘A’ Train (2017 IRNE Award Nomination, Best Ensemble). Favorite L.A. theater credits include Goneril in King Lear opposite Apollo Dukakis, Agnes in The Shadow Box directed by Keith David and the title role in Saint Joan. Dawn is a Staff Writer for the online feminist publication agnès films and is a member of SAG-AFTRA, Women in Film Los Angeles and Women in Film and Video New England. Wendy Raad was always inspired by the powerful impact of great storytelling through film and television.  After graduating from Bard College, she spent 17 years gaining valuable experiences, contacts and skills in a variety of roles in the television industry in New York City, including positions in Sales, Scheduling, Programming and Ad Sales Marketing at CBS, BBC Worldwide Americas, Inc., AMC Networks, Inc., and Scripps Networks Interactive (Food Networking & Cooking Channel).  Her passion for production intensified while working as an Ad Sales Marketing Manager.  Leading in-show integrations and custom co-branded video content for key advertisers, her role was to oversee clients and work with production partners to ensure our sponsorship commitments were delivered without compromising a show’s story or brand.  In 2016, she made a life change by accepting my current role overseeing Operations & Project Management at Animus Studios, a full-service production company in Rhode Island.  Wendy is a long-standing member of the British Academy of Film & Television Arts – New York; Women in Film & Television – New York; Women in Cable Telecommunications – New York; and the Brooklyn Academy of Music.  She is a recent member of Women in Cable Telecommunications – New England.

Charlotte Robinson, Emmy Award Winning, Producer/Director created OUTTAKE MEDIA™ as a news alternative. Charlotte began her career in Boston at WGBH-TV and then joined the staff of WCVB-TV, where she served for four years.  She acquired a position with ABC-NY and then accepted a staff position with CBS Inc. During her five years at CBS, her credits included CBS News with Dan Rather as well as post-production director for network news and daytime promos.  Charlotte then joined CBS Sports, where she earned the Emmy Award for her accomplishments on NFL-Today. While at CBS Sports she became an established music producer for NFL-Today and the U.S. Open. Since leaving CBS Inc., her corporate clients include ABC News, Time Warner, Dupont, Sony, Condé Nast Publications as well as numerous music videos for MTV.   Charlotte has served as a Blue Ribbon Panelist for the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences News and Documentary and Daytime Emmy Awards. Her professional contribution to the process in choosing the best in News and Documentaries has been in Background News Analysis and best in Daytime in the Outstanding Talk Show category.

Michelle Romano is an Award Winning Actress and Producer. She is a member of the Producers Guild of America, Women In Film, the New England Television Academy, and serves as a Board Member for SAG-AFTRA. She is also a Judge for the Daytime Emmy Awards. Originally from Boston, Michelle studied Theater Arts at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where she performed in several theatrical productions. Her love for the stage soon landed her in New York City where she also pursued her passion for Film and TV acting. Michelle can be seen in commercials, print ads, and various film productions. Her love for the Entertainment Industry has influenced her to explore all avenues of the business, including Public Relations, Charity Ambassador work, Directing, and Producing. Michelle is currently in pre-production on several feature films with her company, Roman Media Inc, in which she founded in 2010. Her first feature film MILWOOD, in which she both starred in and produced, was filmed in New England. The World Premiere took place at the prestigious Festival de Cannes. It has since won numerous awards including several Best Lead Actress Wins for Romano. Michelle is the spokesmodel for several different Beauty lines including a lipstick shade named after her company, called “Roman Beauty” by LTW Custom Cosmetics. She is also the face of SiseLASH Mascara, and is using her notoriety to help others. She is an advocate for the organization Childhood Cancer Kids, founded by 7 year old cancer survivor, Sierra Preveza. Michelle also serves as an honorary board member for several Women Empowerment Campaigns, and strives to help others achieve their goals. Michelle is currently studying at Studio 4 in New York City, under the direction of Professor James Franco. Michelle continues to Act, Direct, and Produce projects in Los Angeles, Boston and New York.
