Film as Monument: in conversation with Carrie Van Horn

Lesley Art + Design's Online Public Lecture Series "Monuments+" proudly presents the third of three speakers this Spring/21 semester, Carrie Van Horn who provides a window into the world of film and dynamic film installations at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston. Van Horn addresses film as both material object and ephemeral projection in conjunction with special exhibition Film as Monument for which the Lunder Arts Center becomes an illuminated lantern. With its street-facing gallery windows and atrium, the exhibition showcases a combination of projected experimental film, digital flatscreens, and hand painted celluloid artwork created by Lesley Art + Design Digital Film students and local high school students. This event is free and open to the University community and the general public.

Carrie Van Horn is the Associate Registrar at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston. She earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art Metalsmithing from Syracuse University, and her Masters in Museum Studies from the Harvard Extension School. She has worked in a variety of museums, from history to ethnography, and has spent the past five years immersed in presenting and preserving modern and contemporary art. Carrie and her family live in East Boston, where they enjoy diverse food, waterfront options, and community.
