WIFVNE board member Grace-Mary Burega will give a step-by-step guide to working with a composer if you are a director, producer, writer, or filmmaker. Topics include why you would need a composer for your project, the advantages of custom music over library or royalty-free music, how to pick a composer, how to communicate your vision for the music, temp scores, how to spot a film, and how to give revision notes for music. Grace-Mary will use examples and clips from her own career to demonstrate the process and will take audience questions.

Grace-Mary Burega is a composer for film, TV, and video games as well as a woodwind multi-instrumentalist on saxophone, clarinet, and flute. Her compositions have been on TV PSAs as well as in short and feature films currently on the festival circuit. Grace Notes is her media composing company, which specializes in custom music for a variety of projects such as documentaries, horror, comedy, animation, and more. Grace-Mary is a recent graduate of the Berklee Online Masters of Music in Film Scoring program. She is currently the Secretary of Women in Film and Video of New England, as well as the Secretary of the Female Composer Safety League.
