Jennifer Siebel Newsom, Filmmaker/Founder of The Representation Project, speaks with WIFVNE President Sharon Contillo about her journey into documentary filmmaking and her new hit documentary FAIR PLAY, which brings to light astonishing statistics and information about the imbalance of invisible care work historically held by women and inspires a more equitable balanced future for millions of families across the globe. A Conversation with Siân Heder
from WIFVNE 2021 Annual Meeting of Members
Siân Heder is a writer/director whose most recent work includes CODA (2021), which debuted at the 2021 Sundance Film Festival where it received the top four awards: the Grand Jury Prize, the Audience Award, Best Director and an Ensemble Acting Award. CODA was acquired by Apple TV+ in a festival record-breaking deal and released theatrically and for streaming in August. Siân is currently Executive Producer and Co-Showrunner on the series Little America for Apple TV+. She previously wrote and produced for three seasons on the Netflix series, Orange is the New Black. Her other television writing credits include Men of a Certain Age, which earned her a Peabody Award, and she has directed episodes of Netflix’s Glow, Orange is the New Black, Hulu’s The Path, and Little America.
Her debut feature film, Tallulah (2016) starring Elliot Page and Alison Janney, premiered at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival and was released as a Netflix original.

Meet CODA Camera Op Scott Lebeda
Learn about Scott's work as a Camera Operator on CODA, a three-time Academy Award-winning picture shot in Massachusetts. Hear how Scott has built a career in New England, and ask any other burning questions you may have!
Scott Lebeda is a freelance camera operator, website content manager, and photo and video archivist. He is a member of IATSE Local 600. Scott is a member of WIFVNE, and former WIFVNE Board member. Scott was recently interviewed about working on CODA and his participation in the 48 Hour Films Projects, and both articles can be found on the WIFVNE website.
