New Hampshire resident filmmaker, Christine Altan of Exeter, has been appointed as the 1st NH Chair for the Women in Film & Video New England (WIFVNE) chapter, based in Boston, MA.
WIFVNE NH Chair, Christine Altan, has been immersed in the local film industry for the past decade with credits as an actor, producer, writer, and director in a variety of independent films based out of New England. In 2017, she had her directorial debut of the short film titled Namaste: The Film, all of which was shot entirely in Exeter, NH. An Altan Films production, Namaste: The Film has been accepted into multiple film festivals and received multiple awards, including Best Short & Best Director from the Women’s Only Entertainment Film Festival. Christine was also the 2016 Women in Film Award recipient through the Shawna Shea Memorial Foundation.
“WIFVNE is adding state chairs to make sure the voice of that community has direct access to our board,” says Alecia Orsini, WIFVNE Board President. “This way we, as a group, can continue to support each of our member states fully. Having a point person in the state makes sure that they are always on the agenda. Christine has been enthusiastic since we announce our intentions to create state chairs, and is a strong voice for the region, filmmakers and women. We are thrilled to have her as our New Hampshire chair.”
When asked by WIFVNE what she loves about living and working in New Hampshire, Christine stated that, “New Hampshire is a small state that has big opportunities in terms of beautiful locations, ease of travel, support from local businesses and establishments, a close proximity to the Boston film community, and a close-knit group of talented individuals. The support here for filmmakers is great, especially through the New Hampshire Film Office.”.
