In 1997, Michele Meek founded NewEnglandFilm.com—its original iteration was only a few pages on a website. Before long, it had grown into an important online community resource with jobs and opportunities, an industry directory, local film industry news, a magazine, and the Online New England Film Festival. For over 25 years, NewEnglandFilm.com—with Michele at the helm—promoted thousands of local filmmakers and their projects; helped filmmakers find cast and crew; enabled actors and crew to find work; and supported local film business and production throughout New England.

In 2022, as Michele decided to retire NewEnglandFilm.com to work on other creative and scholarly projects, WIFVNE stepped up to take over some of the resources of the site—including the jobs and opportunities database, which has been an essential resource for the regional film industry.
