APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

All applicants must provide the following: 

  • RESUME or CV

  • PERSONAL STATEMENT

(Please answer the following questions (approx. 250 words max per question) and upload as one document.

  1. Reflecting on your directing goals,what are some strengths and areas of growth? How do you see this 6-month experience supporting your goals?
  2. How do you anticipate your personal experiences, academic studies, employment history, and identity will inform how you approach the role of director?
  3. Please visit EmVision's Social Impact Storytelling™ framework page for highlights of their recent video work. What resonates with you about EmVision Productions' mission and Social Impact Storytelling™ framework, and why?
  4. In reviewing EmVision Productions' portfolio of work, what video stands out to you and why? What might you want to change or enhance? In your reply, feel free to consider technical and/or storytelling elements.
  5. Please share a specific challenge or barrier (creative, production, and/or interpersonal) that you've experienced in this field. How did you address it?

PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY

Applicants must:

  • Be a current WIFVNE member in good standing for at least twelve (12) months.
  • Be twenty-one (21) years of age or older as of February 1, 2025.
  • Be a member of an underrecognized community (including but not limited to:Women, BIPOC, LGBTQ, Neurodivergent, and persons with disabilities.)
  • Have on-set experience in any production capacity
  • Have agency or production company experience
  • Have production experience (on-set, in an office setting, etc.), agency or production company experience or be currently enrolled in a film/media program in college or graduate school.

ABOUT EMVISION PRODUCTIONS

EmVision Productions is a social impact media agency for visionary organizations that are changing the world. A queer, certified minority women-owned business, they serve emerging and established organizations, from grassroots nonprofits to government agencies to global corporations, and their portfolio strongly reflects inclusive entrepreneurship, health, environmental justice, and education, and innovation. With their framework Social Impact Storytelling™, rooted in science and social justice, they specialize in video storytelling; build capacity through workshops and consulting; and “give forward” through pro bono project grants to BIPOC-led nonprofits and the EmVision Social Impact Scholarship Fund at UMass Boston.

EmVisionary Grants
Launched in fall 2020, the EmVisionary Grants are yearly pro bono collaborations designed to benefit small, local non-profit organizations led by people of color, as a way to acknowledge structural racism in accessing resources and power to further their growth and impact.

2024 EmVisionary Grantee Videos:


Dr. Tariana V. Little (she/her/hers) is CEO and co-founder of EmVision Productions, a media boutique that helps visionary organizations convey their value and values. Working at the intersections of public health, communications, and business, she holds a Doctor of Public Health degree from Harvard University, where she taught about entrepreneurship and innovation. She serves on non-profit boards and is a philanthropist in her native Boston, MA. Driven by science, storytelling, and social justice, Tariana’s work embodies what she calls “intentional creativity for social change.”

Jonas Meyer (he/his) is Operations Manager and co-founder of EmVision Productions, a media boutique that helps visionary organizations convey their value and values. An award-winning producer, Jonas’ experiences of immigrating from Germany and studying in the Netherlands and the US has helped him design and manage projects with a lens of critical, cross-cultural awareness and inclusion. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Psychology from UMass Boston, serves on the non-profit board of Rawkstars, and mentors other media entrepreneurs. Personally, he enjoys seeing his son Emilio grow up day by day, gardening, surfing and playing drums.

ABOUT CLARK AVE PRODUCTIONS


Devra Sari Zabot, founder of Clark Ave Productions, creates experiences, visual stories, and educational programming for varied audiences.In 2022, she collaborated with WIFVNE to create their inaugural Director Shadow Program as well as their April 2024 A.D.Workshop.

In addition to producing film-related programs, she has created a DJ Workshop Project for teens with Youth Elemento, the volunteer-led Downtown Flower Program for the City of Chelsea, the grand opening event for the newly established Jewish Chelsea Museum, as well as produced poetry and comedy shows in Chelsea. Chelsea, The Jewish Years, a short documentary she is producing is coming soon.

With over twenty years of experience in film and video production, Zabot utilizes her production and storytelling skills to create innovative and accessible programming, events, and film projects with non-profit organizations.
