This year Christine Turner went beyond being shortlisted and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Short Documentary with her multi-award-winning film, The Barber of Little Rock, co-directed by John Hoffman which shed light on a local barber’s crusade for economic justice executive produced by The New Yorker.
Renowned for her poignant storytelling and captivating narratives, Christine has made an indelible mark with her socially charged portraits of individuals navigating complex landscapes. Her first film Homegoings (PBS/POV) was produced through WMM’s Production Assistance Program and recent works include J’Nai Bridges: Unamplified (PBS/American Masters), Lynching Postcards: Token of a Great Day, (Paramount+), Betye Saar: Taking Care Of Business (New York Times Op-Docs), Paint & Pitchfork (The New Yorker) and episodes of The 1619 Project (Hulu) and Art in the Twenty-First Century (PBS).
